Deep Dive Africa is a pan-African investment readiness and investor-connection program designed to bridge the gap between early-stage African startups and global investors seeking opportunities in the continent’s fast-growing markets.
Connecting African Startups to Global Investors
Co-led by Impact Hubs Accra, Lagos, and Kigali in partnership with GrowthAfrica and funded by Make-IT in Africa (implemented by GIZ on behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development – BMZ), the program offers a unique blend of ecosystem immersion and targeted investor-startup matchmaking.
Following a successful inaugural edition in 2019—where participating startups from Accra and Lagos collectively raised $500,000—Deep Dive Africa II expanded its reach to four key African innovation hubs: Accra (Ghana), Lagos (Nigeria), Kigali (Rwanda), and Nairobi (Kenya).
Program Outlook
From August 2021 to February 2022, the program provided 40 investment-ready startups (10 per country) with tailored support to refine their investment pitches, strengthen their business models, and prepare for meaningful investor engagement.
The initiative combined ecosystem tours—giving investors a firsthand view of local innovation landscapes—with a final three-day virtual investment event (23–25 February 2022) featuring curated one-on-one meetings and networking opportunities.
